Curious about thrifting homeware for your new place? Here's how I did it.
Thrifting for the home is one of the best things you can do to save money when you're in a new place. Nowadays, it's hard to find quality pieces for affordable prices, that's why thrifting is my go to when looking for new homeware. However, I've found there are some best practices.
As you can see, I have thrifted most of my furniture, and a lot of my home decor from Facebook Marketplace. I strongly recommend marketplace for anyone looking for cheap furniture and home decor, or anything really. You can find some really cool pieces for low prices. People Tend to list items for low prices, and will even negotiate with you. I recently bought a large, hardwood bookshelf off marketplace for only $50, even though the listing originally said it was $175.
My other favorite places to go are of course, Goodwill and the Restore. Both places are great for finding interesting pieces, and Restore even does 10% off for students. Goodwill has it's own webpage dedicated to finding tips and bargains, I've included a link to that page here.
One of the best tips that Goodwill mentions is to look at not just the product, but whatever container it is in. For example, you can find an expensive print in an unlikely frame, or you can find an ugly print in an expensive frame. Either way, it's worth the time it takes to go search through the shelves at Goodwill.
